What is Intuitive Painting? Lotte Goede gives us the answer

I met Lotte at an event a few months back, and I was blown away by her paintings and amazing handmade papers.  I had been looking forward to taking her classes.

The class made me feel happy and immersed in a magical moment of spontaneous painting with no expectations as I rhythmically moved my brushes across the paper.

This is one of the paintings I did during Lotte’s class

Following is an article Lotte graciously shared with me about her creative process!

Intuitive Painting

"Something magical happened when I learned to tap into my creativity through Intuitive Painting.  Letting go of fear and expectations and allowing a painting to evolve based on play and my heart’s callings. The first time I painted this way the creative block I had long wrestled with disappeared, I painted my heart out and when I woke up the next morning, I felt light, spacious and full of intense joy - I knew I was at the dawn of a blissful and powerful new path in my life. This happened when my kids were babies, and I was a stay-at-home mom. I made art in the little time I had, for my own joy and wellbeing.    Once my kids started pre- school, I started thinking about going back to work and when I asked myself what my dream job would be, art immediately came to mind.

The idea of ‘doing’ something with my art was very scary and extremely exhilarating at the same time.  I realized I would regret it if I never tried.  So, I gathered my courage and made the commitment to myself to say ‘YES’ to everything creative that crossed my path for one year and see where it would take me.  A ‘crazy’ year ensued - full of surprises, coincidences, overcoming fear, serendipities, bizarre occurrences and beautiful miracles.  From selling paintings, to body painting swimsuit models at the Seattle Art Museum and being asked out of the blue by a stranger to teach a painting workshop for adults, among others.

There were many times I wanted to say NO to opportunities because they felt too scary, but I stuck to the commitment I made to myself – saying YES for one full year.  All of these experiences constantly ‘stretched’ and pushed me to the edge of my confidence and abilities.  I interpreted this wild creative year as an encouraging message from the Universe and have committed myself to making art and teaching ever since. I’ve been teaching Intuitive Painting classes and workshops and feel so honored and blessed to be able to do so. In my workshops we go on creative journeys. It’s all about creative exploration and freedom. A freedom that we can find by letting go of the critical voice in our head, connecting within and letting the painting process flow from that place. I introduce people to a variety of ‘tools’ that support them in staying in a place of play, freedom and gratitude.  From meditation, tips and insights, to moving our bodies and even using our vocal cord.  All of these will help people to stay present in the moment, connected to their creative intuition and joyful discovery in a non-judgmental space.

My goal, besides making art, is to help people get in touch with their creative fire.  So they can learn to connect to their inner-selves through art.

If you’re interested in experiencing Intuitive Painting I invite you to come paint with me and join one of my weekly online classes. Every Wednesday 11-12pm PST”
